Year 10 Drama Student Success
Back
Earlier this month, Iszy in Year 10 proudly represented the Drama department at Farlington by entering several monologues into the prestigious National Monologue Competition, a nationwide event celebrating young acting talent from Primary through to Sixth Form across both the north and south regions of the UK.
We were absolutely delighted to receive the fantastic news this week that Iszy has been selected for the Regional Southern Finals in not just one, but two monologue categories - an incredible achievement and a true testament to her dedication, creativity and performance skills. The finals will take place in May in a West End theatre, giving Iszy the exciting opportunity to perform on one of the country’s most inspiring stages.
This success reflects not only Iszy’s exceptional talent and hard work, but also the vibrant and ambitious culture of Drama at Farlington. The department continues to provide pupils with a wide range of opportunities to develop confidence, creativity and performance experience, both within school productions and through national competitions such as this. From rehearsals and workshops to live performances, pupils are encouraged to find their voice and express themselves with confidence.
Iszy’s achievement also perfectly embodies the ‘O’ for Oracy within Farlington’s MIRROR framework for pupil success. Through Drama, pupils develop the ability to communicate clearly, perform confidently, articulate ideas thoughtfully and connect with an audience, all vital skills that extend far beyond the stage and into every aspect of school life and future success.
We could not be more proud of Iszy and all she has achieved already. She is a brilliant ambassador for Farlington and an inspiration to other young performers across the school community.
Congratulations, Iszy, we’ll all be cheering you on in the finals!
