Sixth Form Art 1

A very warm welcome to the Farlington Sixth Form. The purpose-built centre is separate from the main school, and here our oldest students enjoy a vibrant atmosphere based on challenge, breadth and preparation for the future.

Most Year 11 students continue their educational journey through to the Sixth Form, and many students also choose to join us from other schools, both locally and further afield. The Sixth Form is a dynamic, international community where everyone's contribution is valued.

Academically, Farlington Sixth Form is a successful place - in 2019 our Value Added results placed us in the top 1% of schools nationally. In 2020, Farlington Sixth Form students received a 100% success rate in their A-Level results, with 67.6% A* to A and 80.3% A* to B (please visit our Academic Results page for more information). We offer a broad curriculum and you may choose from different A-Level subjects, including all the traditional disciplines, alongside more practical-based subjects such as Media, Business and Drama & Theatre.

In addition to the academic core, a series of options enhance independent learning skills, including the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award, Enterprise, Voluntary Service and the Extended Project Qualification. We will encourage you to use your initiative, build your ideas and interests, and develop transferable skills to set you on the path to future personal and academic success.

The style of teaching in the Sixth Form is very different from lower down the school - small seminar-style teaching groups more closely resemble the style of teaching students will receive when they move onto higher education. The Sixth Form at Farlington will prepare you for your transition to the next stage of your education; Sixth Form staff will carefully guide your UCAS application (including personal statement advice, mock interviews and work experience support) to make sure that your next move is the right one for you.

Boarding is a popular option during Sixth Form years; it can provide a valuable transition towards more independent living at university, and can also be of real benefit when it comes to public exam season, when time usually spent travelling to and from school can be spent in the library or studying with friends - you can read more about boarding at Farlington here.

Come and visit our Sixth Form and meet our students for yourself; I look forward to meeting you.
