WELCOME TO THE SIXTH FORM
A very warm welcome to the Sixth Form at Farlington, where students enjoy a vibrant atmosphere based on challenge, breadth and preparation for the future.
Entering the Sixth Form is undoubtedly a key moment in education; this is the bridge from school to university and future ambitions. As a Sixth Form student at Farlington, you will study the subjects that you love and at which you excel, whilst enjoying a truly personalised Sixth Form experience that will fully prepare you for whichever future path you choose to take.
Academically, the Sixth Form at Farlington is a very successful place – in 2019, our Value Added results placed us in the top 1% of schools nationally, and in 2021, 93% of students achieved A* to B in their A-Levels – but we are about much more than qualifications.
In addition to a wide range of A-Level subjects, a series of options for Sixth Form students at Farlington enhance independent learning skills, for example the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, Enterprise, Voluntary Service and the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). We will encourage you to use your initiative, build your ideas and interests, and develop transferable skills to set you on the path to future personal and academic success.
Whichever path you choose to take after Sixth Form, we will help you to be fully prepared for your next step, whether that means providing guidance on your UCAS application or helping to find the perfect apprenticeship.
Boarding is a popular option during Sixth Form years; it can provide a valuable transition towards more independent living at university, and can also be of real benefit when it comes to public exam season, when time usually spent travelling to and from school can be spent in the library or studying with friends – you can read more about boarding at Farlington here.
Please do come and visit the Sixth Form at Farlington, and meet some of our students for yourself; I very much look forward to meeting you.
