FINE ART

Farlington has a justifiably excellent reputation for Fine Art, with students consistently securing places to study at some of the most prestigious institutions after leaving school. However, we firmly believe that art is not solely for those who wish to pursue it academically.

In an increasingly AI-driven world, the ability to think creatively, take risks, and develop an individual voice has never been more important. Our Art Department is committed to nurturing these skills in all students, ensuring that creativity remains at the heart of their education.

Opportunities such as Art Clubs allow students with an interest to explore, experiment, and develop their ideas beyond the classroom. From Year 7 through to Sixth Form, Farlington students immerse themselves in their artistic practice, producing work of an exceptionally high standard whilst building confidence in their creative thinking.

Our outcomes reflect both the strength of our teaching and the commitment of our students. In recent years, 100% of GCSE Fine Art students have achieved grades 9-7, whilst at A-Level, 100% have achieved grades A*-A. These results sit alongside a culture that values process, exploration, and originality as much as final outcomes.

We are incredibly proud of our talented and dedicated Fine Art students, whose work is regularly recognised at both regional and national level. Students have achieved outstanding success in the ISA London South Art Competition, securing multiple top prizes, and many have gone on to win first place in their categories at the ISA National Art Competition following regional success.

Our students’ work has also been recognised by external organisations, with several Farlington students selected as semi-finalists in the RBA's Rising Stars Competition, and others named among the RBA’s ‘Star Students’ – a national distinction awarded to a small number of exceptional A-Level artists.

These achievements reflect not only technical skill, but also the originality, independence, and creative resilience that we actively foster within the department. At Farlington, we equip students with the confidence to think differently and the ability to adapt; qualities that are essential for success in a rapidly evolving world.
