Farlington 6th Form Welcome Dinner 062

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Farlington is home to a significant number of international students from many different countries, all of whom are all fully integrated into our family-type environment, where co-operation, kindness and fun are key.

Our international students are able to experience a traditionally English education, and their presence and global outlook means that all Farlington students are able to learn valuable skills to enable them to thrive and become confident world citizens.

EAL (English as an Additional Language)

Farlington warmly welcomes international students and provides excellent support for pupils from around the world. Students quickly become fully involved in the academic and extra-curricular life of the school, while developing their English skills and achieving strong results within the British education system.

Our specialist EAL teachers offer tailored language support through small-group lessons and, where appropriate, one-to-one lessons, ensuring that students can access the full curriculum with confidence. Pupils at Farlington regularly achieve excellent results in IGCSE English as a Second Language, IELTS and Cambridge Advanced English (CAE) examinations, as well as other Cambridge English qualifications including FCE, PET and KET.

Students may also have the opportunity to sit GCSE or A-Level examinations in their mother tongue, gaining additional recognised qualifications. In the Sixth Form, our highly qualified staff provide expert guidance in academic writing and research skills, particularly for those undertaking the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).

Short-stay international students also benefit from focused language development through discussion, pronunciation work and paired reading, and may be entered for English language examinations at an appropriate level. All overseas students are supported by a welcoming buddy system, helping them settle quickly into life at Farlington.
