The first step is to contact our Admissions Department or request a prospectus.

Book a visit – Once you have read all the literature and have had all your questions answered by the Admissions Team, why not book a visit on a day to suit you, or come along to one of our Open Events.

Enjoy a Taster Day and/or a boarding sleepover – Once you have visited us and have met key staff, we find it is helpful for prospective pupils to spend a day and overnight stay with us. This gives your child the opportunity to see if Farlington is the school for them! If you would like to book a Taster Day (this does not incur a cost), please email our Admissions Team - we want to make sure your child is as happy as possible with the decision they make, and so you can book as many Taster Days as you think he or she needs.

Complete the registration form and pay a registration fee of either £100 (UK pupils)
or £150 (International pupils).

Assessment Day – Please see below for details on the Assessment Day for each entry point. Whatever the entry point, we work hard to ensure that the day is as stress-free and enjoyable as possible for your child.

Offer of a place – The next step is for us to offer your child a place at the school, provided that all of the entrance requirements have been met.

Arrow down 4 64

Acceptance of a place – At this point you will be asked to pay a deposit to secure your child's place at the school.

Forms and welcome packs – A number of forms will be sent to you for completion, followed by a Farlington Welcome Pack.

Time for your family to start their Farlington adventure!

You can find details specific to our different entry points below. Of course, if you have any questions at any point in your child's admissions journey, you only need to pick up the phone and we will be delighted to help you out.

Reception to Year 6

We are very keen to meet all students before they apply for a place at Farlington. We welcome you and your child to come for a tour of the school and to meet the Headmaster.

We accept a very broad intake of students. We are looking for children who have developing social skills and will make the most of every opportunity to succeed, whatever their starting point.

Entrance Assessment

  • Reception, Year 1 & Year 2 - Informal assessment and report from
    current nursery / school
  • Years 3 to 6 - Pupils will complete written assessments in Mathematics and English. They will also have an interview with the Head of Lower School or the Head of Middle School

Year 6 to Year 11

Most students enter the Middle School in Year 7 or the Senior School in Year 9, although a few join at the start of Year 8; at the start of Year 10 for GCSE qualifications; or at the start of Sixth Form. September entry is preferable but we are happy to consider students at any time of the year where the situation requires, provided there is space in the relevant year group.

We are very keen to meet all students before they apply for a place at Farlington, and we would welcome you and your child to make an appointment to tour the school and meet with the Headmaster.

Entrance papers are taken in the January before entry to Years 7 to 10. If your son/daughter is at school overseas they will sit the papers in their own school, or if they have registered for a place through an agency, they can sit the papers in their offices. Students who are currently overseas will also be required to have an interview via video link, usually through Skype.

Please note that those who cannot attend Entrance Exam Day will be offered the chance to sit entrance papers at other times throughout the year.

Although our excellent GCSE and A Level results might suggest we accept only students who are already achieving very high standards, we take a very broad intake of pupils. We are looking for students who will do well, whatever their education before joining us, and entry is often not as difficult as some people fear.

Sixth Form

A Sixth Form Evening is held in the Autumn Term prior to entry for current Year 11 students, followed by a Sixth Form Experience Day when students can get a taste of life as a Farlington Sixth Former.
