Winning Performances
Talented Farlington students regularly compete in regional and national drama competitions.
Farlington’s thriving Drama Department has an excellent reputation, and under the direction of Mrs Emma Spires was a finalist at the Music and Drama Education Awards 2023, in the 'Outstanding Drama Department' category. With 80% of A-Level Drama students achieving grade A or A* over the past 10 years, and a 100% pass rate for the Arts Awards across Year 5 to Year 13, it’s not hard to see why.
At Farlington, Drama is taught through the curriculum from Year 3 to Year 9 as a compulsory subject, and approximately half of Year 10 and Year 11 students at Farlington choose to take GCSE Drama.
A great number of Farlington students also take part in a variety of drama-based extra-curricular activities throughout the year, from our Scholars Club to various Drama Clubs, as well as performances run by both Sixth Form students and staff. There are also regular theatre trips, and even a Performing Arts trip to New York, where students have the opportunity to take part in professional workshops.
Large numbers of students are enrolled in LAMDA classes, from the Lower School right through to the Sixth Form, with a 100% success rate and distinctions at Grade 8.

The Farlington Drama Department boasts sell-out productions every year, including Middle and Senior School productions and school musicals. Some of our recent productions have included The Addams Family, James and the Giant Peach, Jesse and the Bookkeepers and Shrek Jr.
Farlington students regularly audition for the National Youth Theatre, and students have performed professionally in the West End, at The Tower of London, and at local theatres, alongside their studies.
We also run a successful Scholarships programme for Drama. For more details, please see our Scholarships page.
