PERFORMING ARTS
At Farlington, Performing Arts are an integral part of both the curriculum and the extra-curriculum throughout the school, from our youngest learners in Reception, through to talented performers in the Sixth Form. Opportunities abound for anyone with talent or passion or both – pupils and staff alike – and the school currently puts on around 20 performances per year.
Music lessons with peripatetic staff, LAMDA lessons, and dance lessons are offered, with the opportunity to study for grades in each. The school has four choirs, two orchestras, two bands, a string ensemble, and a classical guitar ensemble. Performances occur regularly for all age groups.
Opportunites to take part in frama productions, including plays and musicals, as well as the annual dance show, are available to all students. For those not so keen on being in the spotlight, students are able to learn technical skills such as stage management, and operating lighting and sounds for performances. Performing Arts students at Farlington are regularly recognised at a national level, achieving success in prestigious contests including Independent Schools Association (ISA) competitions.
Many of our students participate in one or more areas within Performing Arts, and for those whose talents lie in this field, we are able to support a professional pathway if that is their calling. Farlington alumni have pursued a broad range of careers in Performing Arts, with some realising their dreams of performing in the West End.
