INDEPENDENT SIXTH FORM COLLEGE IN WEST SUSSEX, UK

The Sixth Form at Farlington in Horsham, West Sussex, is only 50 minutes from London Victoria by train, and offers an exceptional co-educational private Sixth Form education for day and boarding students, with the highest levels of academic and pastoral support for future professional and personal success.

More than Qualifications

In 2019, our Value Added results placed us in the top 1% of schools nationally, and in 2021, 93% of students achieved A* to B in their A-Levels. But we are about much more than qualifications. We seek to educate the whole person, and as such, our students leave us as confident and articulate young people, with a good understanding of the world around them and strong interpersonal skills.

Farlington Pathways

The Sixth Form brings choices, and with those choices begins a process of defining a potential pathway towards life beyond school. Through the Farlington Pathways Philosophy, we aim to educate students in a more focused and personalised way. This beigins with a Pathway Planning Meeting (PPM) during the admissions process, which helps to identify the subjects a student might like to study, their broader educational interests, and what consideration they have given to careers and higher education.

Extra-Curricular Opportunities

In addition to an impressive 24 A-Level subjects, as well as three BTEC courses being considered for September 2022, we offer a variety of extra-curricular opportunities to enhance independent learning skills. These include the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, Enterprise, volunteering and leadership opportunities, and the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). Through these opportunities, students are encouraged to use their initiative, build upon ideas and interests, and develop valuable transferable skills.

Specialist Tutors, Small Classes

Every student is allocated a specialist Sixth Form Tutor to provide academic and pastoral support throughout Years 12 and 13, whilst small class sizes allow teachers to provide every student with plenty of individual attention.

Whichever path a student chooses to take after Sixth Form, we help them to be fully prepared, from providing guidance on UCAS applications to finding the perfect apprenticeship. We also offer a comprehensive range of careers advice, including trips to universities, visiting speakers, and access to the Unifrog online careers portal.

Sixth Form Scholarships

Farlington School offers Sixth Form Scholarships in Music, Performing Arts, Sport and Art, as well as in academic subjects linked to GCSE performance. These Scholarships offer talented students the opportunity to flourish, and to contribute to and benefit from Farlington’s ethos and life at the school. These awards are applied for entry at Year 12 (16+) and offer up to 10% fee remission (at the Headmaster’s discretion).

Sixth Form Boarding  SJP4030 Edit

We have a very warm and welcoming boarding community at Farlington, where Sixth Form boarders sleep in single or twin rooms, and enjoy a real home-from-home environment. Residential provision is available on a full, weekly or flexi basis.

Boarding is a popular option during Sixth Form, providing a valuable transition towards more independent living at university. Boarding can also be of real benefit during exam season, when time usually spent travelling to/from Farlington can be spent studying with friends.
