More than Qualifications

Academically, Farlington Sixth Form is a very successful place. In 2023, 74% of A-Level grades awarded to Farlington students were A*-B, and 83% of Year 13 students secured a place at their first choice of university. In 2022, 45% of A-Level grades awarded to Farlington students were A*-A, beating the national average (36.4%). In 2019, our Value Added results placed us in the top 1% of schools nationally.

But we are about much more than qualifications. We seek to educate the whole person, and as such, our students leave us as confident and articulate young people, with a good understanding of the world around them and strong interpersonal skills.

Our Pathways Philosophy

Our Pathways Philosophy aims to support each student throughout their post-16 educational and developmental journey. This begins with admissions interviews in Year 11, which help to identify which subjects and interests each prospective student might have; what their thoughts are on their broader educational goals; and where they think they might be going next.

Once part of Farlington Sixth Form, each student’s individual Pathway consists of three coexisting strands:

This holistic and integrative approach enables students to keep focused on their own personal journey, serving as a stepping stone as they fulfil their potential and guiding them towards their next chapter.

Sixth Form Scholarships

Farlington School offers Sixth Form Scholarships in Music, Performing Arts, Sport and Art, as well as in academic subjects linked to GCSE performance. These Scholarships offer talented students the opportunity to flourish, and to contribute to and benefit from Farlington’s ethos and life at the school. These awards are applied for entry at Year 12 (16+) and offer up to 25% fee remission (at the Headmaster’s discretion).

Sixth Form Boarding

At Farlington, we have a small but friendly boarding community, made up of both local and overseas students. Full, weekly and flexi-boarding options are available. Boarders enjoy varied evening activities including sports, social activities, and music and performing arts opportunities, as well as weekend trips.

For many students, boarding is a valuable stepping stone to university life and living away from home. Our boarders develop greater independence and gain critical life skills, such as preparing food and managing laundry.
