Our #ALevel #FineArt students have made fantastic progress this year, under the expert guidance of the wonderful Mrs Sprey 👏 😃 🎨
Alex, Year 13, is about to complete her coursework on the theme of 'Cityscapes', and is currently working on her final piece ✅ 🎉 Alex has produced some amazing paintings during the A-Level course, and we have every confidence we will see further progress with her exam work.
Year 12 students Becca and Hannah have made a very positive start to the A-Level course, and already produced some stunning drawings and colour work. Both of these talented pupils are specialising in #portraiture, but each has a unique quality and style, so we are excited to see their work evolve! 🤩

🐉🇨🇳 Chinese Club 🇨🇳🐉
Our new lunchtime Chinese Club, for pupils in #Reception to #Year2, is now in full swing!
The Chinese Club members have recently been celebrating #chinesenewyear by learning about how the festival is celebrated, and why each new year is named after an animal.
Chinese Club is run by Sixth Form students Ethan and Gladys, who plan fun activities for the children each week, including stories, songs and learning some basic #Chinese words.
This week, the Chinese Club members had great fun acting out the Chinese New Year story, and every child was given a traditional red envelope containing a chocolate rabbit at the end of the session 🍫🐇
Running extra-curricular clubs for students lower down the school is just one of the ways in which Sixth Form students at Farlington gain valuable #leadership skills 😃

Year 7 Science - Distillation Experiment 🥼🥽
Having learnt about separation techniques during their recent #Science lessons, last week Year 7 planned and then carried out the filtration, evaporation and then condensation of seawater 🌊
At Farlington, Year 7 students are taught Science in our fantastic on-site laboratories from day one, so our budding scientists have plenty of opportunities to gain hands-on experience in the lab 👏🧪

Lunchtime LEGO Club has landed! 😃🧱
Today saw the launch of our eagerly awaited LEGO Club for Years 5 and 6 🎉
After eating their lunch, pupils in Years 5 and 6 gathered together to enjoy their first LEGO Club session. Students were each provided with a LEGO kit, and the aim was to make and dismantle their set in 30 minutes ⏳
Each week, our LEGO enthusiasts will try a new kit, working in pairs or alone to tackle the challenge.
To be able to read and follow complex instructions is a very valuable skill - and what a fantastic way to practise! 🤩

⭐️✨Year 4’s Sparkling Start ✨⭐️
Year 4 are learning about the #Romans this term, and as part of their ‘Sparkling Start’, two ladies from Horsham Museum & Art Gallery visited the class this week, bringing authentic Roman artefacts for the students to look at and touch. The children even had the opportunity to dig for artefacts in the sand! 🏺😃
Every year group in the Lower School here at Farlington begins each term with a ‘Sparkling Start’ - an exciting and engaging way to introduce the children to their new topic ⭐️👏

Our inspirational Head of Design & Technology, Mr Morris, gave a very exciting #penguin talk to Year 2 this morning, to support their current #polar topic 🧊😃
Mr Morris lived in the #falklandislands for two years, and the students found it fascinating to hear from someone familiar who has first-hand experience of living with penguins! 🐧
Mr Morris really helped to bring the pupils’ topic work to life 👏 The spellbound children listened attentively, and asked all sorts of wonderful questions too 🎉
