Farlington School is delighted to announce that the award-winning Little Barn Owls nursery will be opening Little Barn Owls at Farlington on 3rd September 2018.

Louise Higson, Farlington Headmistress, said, “Little Barn Owls has an inspirational approach to early years education and will be an exciting addition to Farlington; this will be their third nursery in the Horsham area. We believe their child-centred approach and commitment to outdoor learning will be a real asset to Farlington.

“This will extend the provision currently available at Farlington, which is term-time only for three-year-olds and above. Registration is now open for children aged 0 to 4 years and the nursery will be open for 51 weeks a year, daily from 8.00am till 6.00pm.  “We look forward to welcoming the Little Barn Owls team to the Farlington community, along with their farm animals – chickens, quails, rabbits and guinea pigs!”

Little Barn Owls’ ethos is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach; it employs professional artists, atelieristas , to work with children in dedicated creative studios. It believes in developing children’s enquiring minds through a holistic, child-centred approach to education which helps children develop their thinking and express themselves creatively. This chimes beautifully with the Farlington ethos “Discover, Believe, Achieve!”

Hayley Peacock, Little Barn Owls Managing Director, opened Little Barn Owls in 2010 and, in 2012, relocated to Moat House Farm, expanding to 80 places and adding a farm school along the way. In January 2016, she opened a second, small Forest School nursery for 1-5 year olds. Hayley now has a team of 45 educators, leaders, cooks, administrators and artists who look after around 250 families a week, across two sites and 11-acre forest and outdoor nursery site. At Farlington there will be Forest School sessions and a small farm school area.

Hayley Peacock says, “The site at Farlington is a perfect fit for Little Barn Owls; the school facilities, the beautiful grounds and onsite woodland will work very well for us. There is also an educational synergy in the way Farlington approaches children’s learning, making it a really positive partnership.

“Farlington has always struck me as a place where children flourish in a warm, welcoming community where parents and children alike are very well looked after and thrive. Little Barn Owls prides itself on being a place that nurtures confident, curious and caring children and delivers nothing but a 5-star service to parents.  I feel we are a great choice to provide this important stage of education to children in partnership with the School and can’t wait to start, and meet the Farlington families!”
